Cirencester Chamber of Commerce announces plans to hold a virtual Business Awards 2020 this autumn.

As each day brings another easing of the Coronavirus lockdown, the business community is coming to terms with the impact it has had on the markets we are used to operating in. Shops have now started to reopen and at the time of writing, the leisure and hospitality sectors are gearing up to welcoming back customers for the first time in three months.

Some businesses were able to adapt to the digital marketplace and find new ways of marketing and selling to their customers. Others have had to wait.

We are now in what everyone is calling the ‘new normal’, and the reality is this is an exciting and challenging time to be doing business.

Which is why we at the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce have decided to hold our Business Awards 2020 this autumn – but with a difference.

Having had to postpone the Awards from May because of the lockdown, we have seen how businesses have risen to the challenge of working digitally, and none more so than Barn Media, part of the Barn Theatre.

That is why we are planning on holding the first ever virtual Cirencester Business Awards on the stage at the Barn Theatre, which will be streamed live to members and beyond. Although there won’t be a formal dinner, we promise you will have an entertaining evening – and you can still dress up to watch at home!

The ten Business Award categories remain unchanged:

Business Person of the Year, Team of the Year, Corporate Social Enterprise of the Year, New Business of the Year, Professional Service Provider of the Year, Hospitality and Entertainment Provider of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Young Enterprise of the Year, Business of the Year and Apprentice of the Year;

We will also have our three voted for Media Awards – the Customer Service Award sponsored by the Wilts and Glos Standard; the Creatives’ Champion sponsored by Ciren Scene Magazine; Cirencester Ambassador sponsored by Cotswold Life, as well as the Chamber Award winner, who is chosen by Chamber President Annemarie Thurgood.

These categories are open to all businesses in the GL7 area. Members’ entries are free, and non-members can either pay an entry fee or join the Chamber. As per previous years, all our judges will be external and independent of the Chamber.

Importantly, we have postponed the cut-off for entries to the Awards until 30th September so there is plenty of time to fill in those application forms.

The details of the Awards are on our website where you can also download the application form. To find out more please email awards@cirencesterchamber.org.uk.
