Cirencester Advent Festival will take place on Saturday 2 December and marks the day that we kick off the Christmas season.
Established in 1998, The Advent Festival and celebrity light switch on has a long well-known history, attracting international media attention and visitors from around the world.
A local celebrity is asked to switch on the lights; previous celebrities have included Ben Miller, Elizabeth Hurley, Melinda Messenger and Laurence Llewelyn Bowen. Its a great fun filled event and a highlight in Cirencesters annual event calendar.
Organised by Cirencester Town Council, the vision behind the festival is to promote Cirencester as a destination for shopping and dining; bringing the community together in celebration and raising valuable funds for the beautiful Christmas lights and tree, look out for our collection buckets during the event!.
Highlights this year include a headline stage with live music and entertainment; a special Advent Gift Market, Arts & Crafts Market, local food, drink and fair rides make Christmas shopping in Cirencester a great fun. It all reaches a climax at 7pm when the local celebrity flicks the switch and on come our Christmas lights accompanied by fireworks from the sensational Cotswold Fireworks.

Cirencester Christmas Markets are well worth a visit. This years Christmas themed markets will take place on Saturday 2nd December and Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th December in and around the Market Place. Plus there will be more markets to enjoy throughout the festive season.
