A CALL has gone out to any businesses and organisations in the area which would like to help renovate the historic Old Station in Cirencester.
The former train station in Sheep Street, Cirencester has remained vacant for a number of years and is owned by the Cotswold District Council.
CDC wants to bring life back to the deteriorating building and was previously working on proposals to turn it into a community hub for cultural and business use with New Brewery Arts.
However, the art centre no longer wishes to progress with these proposals so CDC is on the hunt for a new investor.
The council is interested in hearing from any local business or organisation which has an innovative plan that could help revitalise the decaying building.
Proposals could also involve renovating the Old Memorial cottages on the edge of the Sheep Street car park too.
Last month CDC announced that £158,000 had been put aside to carry out urgent structural repairs on the listed building.
Engineers identified that its west wall was structurally unstable, due partially to extensive rot in structural timbers.
The wall is currently supported by structural scaffolding and building works are due to commence in April.
However, CDC still need significant investment to progress with a transformative project.
Business owners who have fresh ideas on how to bring life back to the vacant building should email assets.enquiries@cotswold.gov.uk.
Those expressing serious interest in the building will be invited to meet with lead officers to discuss proposals in more detail.
